Walk for Shelter Reflection: Huge Success - 248 walkers
Wednesday, September 23, 2009
The Good Shepherd Alliance’s 5th Annual Walk for Shelter this past Saturday was a huge success. There were 248 walkers! This is the largest walk they’ve had and was an increase of 112 walkers from last year. Common Ground Church provided the moon bounces, lunch for walkers, sound, volunteers, and helped organize, plan, and market this year’s walk. We’re so thankful to have had the opportunity to serve on behalf of the homeless and to advocate for their needs to our community. We know God is pleased with our expression of love. Mark your calendar’s for next year’s walk on Saturday, September 18th, 2010.
Love in the making - “Walk for Shelter”
Friday, August 07, 2009
Common Ground has partnered with the Good Shepherd Alliance to walk for the homeless on Saturday, September 19th. To make this event a reality we need help! We need people to first, and foremost, register to walk at www.loudounhomeless.org and two, we need people to volunteer. Over the last few months we’ve seen love in the making as we’ve planned this event with GSA but now it’s time for all of us to join in making love a reality. Let’s give some love by participating in this awesome event. For more information you can visit their website or email us, cg@ecommonground.org.
Love Update
Friday, August 07, 2009
As of tonight Panera’s bread donation to Common Ground will top $5,500. Amazing! With this donation we have been able to help many families in need due to the economic climate. We’ve helped people who have lost jobs, had their wages cut, or who simply are struggling to pay bills. As much as the people who receive the bread have been blessed with love we have felt the blessing of loving others. Again none of this could be possible without Panera and of course our awesome volunteers who pick-up, wrap, and give away the bread.

PANERA DONATION TOPS $3,500
We’ve been receiving bread donations from Panera for six weeks now and I’m so excited to say that the donations have topped $3,500. We’re not excited about the value of the bread but how the value of the bread equals the amount of families and individuals we’ve been able to help. I can’t even begin to tell you how much of a difference this bread has made to people in need during these tough economic times. Thanks Panera. Thanks God. Thank you volunteers for helping us prep and give away the bread.
$1,300 FOR FUSION
I’m so excited to announce that we as a community have donated over $1,300 to help make Fusion, our junior high program, a reality. The money has been used to help outfit our fusion gathering. This gathering is designed to help junior highers connect with God and others. Common Ground thanks for loving the junior highers of Loudoun County!
